Senate Panel: Do We Need Caylee's Law? - Jacksonville News Story - WJXT Jacksonville

Senate Panel: Do We Need Caylee's Law? - Jacksonville News Story - WJXT Jacksonville:
Passing laws to placate the masses is not only pointless,...it's dangerous as well. The problem with this notable case is not a lack of legislation but a lack of prosecution. The State Attorney tried to prove to the jury that the world is indeed flat. They simply went to far to try and prove a case that wasn't supported by hard evidence. Since we are a nation of laws and not of passions, Casey Anthony got away with murder. Had they have settled on a lessor charge, like manslaughter, this worthless excuse for a mother would be behind bars right now writing a book no one would ever read.We all want justice for little Caylee however, passing a vague, single purpose law that will be forgotten in a year is not the answer.

  1. Agreed. Don't discount the media's influence the on public's sentiment and the prosecution's shot at a home run instead of what the evidence supported. Certainly, the outcome of this case is a huge injustice but it does not warrant new litigation to govern what parents should already know.

  2. I concur 100%. As a footnote though, life has a way with catching up with the Casey Anthony's of this world and as Tony Montana said,..."every dog has his day."
