Unfortunately, the citizens of Duval County had best get use to "Rutherfords Revenge". This is the Sheriff's way of poking the taxpayers in the eye with his "I told you so" stick. Like a fat kid with the only football on the block, he's telling everyone that if he can't be the captain and get his way, he's taking the football and going home.Ultimate revenge for the city council not passing his overstuffed cop budget. Well, this time his ass was saved by a good citizen. However, this story could have had a much sadder and different ending. This women saved Rutherford's butt, plain and simple, and all the department's chatter about triage or categorical assignment are just smoke and mirrors.This child almost fell into the dark cracks of police ineptness.No one at the Sheriff's Office knew for sure who this women really was until later on as the situation unfolded. For all they knew, it could have been Casey Anthony. If this child had belonged to a cop, police reaction and the news headlines would have been much different in deed. Unfortunately, this then is the future of Duval law enforcement wherein much police efforts will be refocused on generating revenue dollars for the department.
